Windows Security prohibits opening Pencil2D

my issue is that windows security wont let me open pencil 2d exe

What’s your user status on the computer, is it a single user computer or is it attached to a network.

Sometimes on a network you will not have the authority to install and run software. In this situation you’ll be able to see the files, but not execute Pencil2D.exe!

If you are seeing a warning that says “Windows Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting”, that’s just because we recently released a new version. Windows shows that warning out of an abundance of caution when it detects a (version of a) program that isn’t in widespread use yet. If you downloaded Pencil2D from the official website, you can safely bypass the warning by simply clicking “More info”, and then “Run anyway”. If it’s another issue that you’re experiencing, you can also check out this topic for other potential solutions:

In 1 of the locations, where I use shared computers if you load Pencil2D 0.6.6 it runs but currently the 0.7 version is flagged as an unknown program!

On my work laptop, I’m the local administrator, which gives me the ability to accept programs as safe on the laptop, but I’m not an administrator for network shared computers!
