Just started out - Pen Pressure isn't working

Heya! I’m trying out some different free animation software currently (I’ve used OpenToonz for ages but admittedly it lags SO bad on my computer lol. 4 gigs of ram’ll do that to ya) and Pencil2D was first on my list to try! I sketched out a little animatic, and was VERY happy with the software, especially the simple interface and lack of lag. However, when I went to do lineart, the pen pressure wasn’t working? The size of my lines was not affected in the slightest by how hard or soft I pressed my pen onto my tablet. I tried checking and unchecking the pen pressure option, reopening the program, and even downloading the latest nightly build, but none of those worked. Without pen pressure all I would want to use Pencil2d for would really just be animatic sketches and Homestuck-esque pixelly stuff, but I’d really like to be able to use it as my main program!! Does anyone know of a way to get the pen pressure working again?

Here’s my specs: OS - Windows 11 Laptop - Acer ASPIRE A515-56 Tablet - Bluetooth Wacom Intuos 32 or 64 bit - 64 Program version - v0.7.0.939

Hi Marv

It should definitely work with Wacom Intuos. I am not near a Windows PC right now so I can’t verify this for windows 11 but you can try following what Jose writes here:

Thanks for your quick response! I did some fiddling around and found that oddly enough, my solution was the opposite of the first thing suggested. I’ve had Windows Ink off for some time now because I hate random bloatware lol but I decided to turn it on (on a whim) and when I went back to Pencil 2D the pen pressure was working! I turned it off to see if it was an on-again-off-again thing but nope, Pencil2D seems to only work with Windows Ink. I did a quick check and Windows Ink doesn’t seem to be messing with my main art program (FireAlpaca) at all so I think I’m all good now!! Thanks again for your quick response! I think it’s really neat how involved you guys are with the community.
