Pencil2D was unable to start at first because the three .dll files were missing: vcruntime140.dll, msvcp140.dll, and vcruntime140_1.dll. I managed to find those files on the internet and installed them into the Pencil2D folder, but the only error I can’t tackle says “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.”
The error dialog occurs because you do not have a particular package installed from Microsoft. Do not download these files off the Internet, as you see it is not enough to drop these files in the folder, and we can’t guarantee that these files are not malicious. Please delete your Pencil2D folder and re-extract it from the zip download. Then, run the vcredist file in the Pencil2D directory. This will install the necessary packages on your computer, then you should be able to run Pencil2D without issue.
