when I go to move my frames around and I accidentally double click a empty spot in the timeline it makes a blank frame, is there a way I can turn this off its really annoying
Yes this has occasionally happen to me! Because careful when clicking on the Timeline. If the blank frames are created, then delete them as soon as your aware of their presence.
Making regular backups of your work. Don’t use the same names for these backups. Start with say MyProject-1, the next backup named MyProject-2 and so on. This gives you a series of backups to which you can restart your project development!
Yes there may be bugs in Pencil2D, but every package has bugs, it’s a part of computer software development. All you do is find a ‘work around’, use it in your projects and post an error in the Bugs section of the discussion channel.
There is currently no way to turn this feature off. There are plans in future versions to disable creating new frames when double clicking on existing frames, as this can easily happen when trying to select and move frames, but the behavior would remain when clicking on empty spaces.
I am also at my wits end with this functionality and looking forward to when this can be disabled.
I have never used a piece of software that has no bugs! With graphics software especially, there is a problem with individual users doing operations, that were not expected by either the designer or the programmer.
Experiments with software, the users often discover new possible techniques, see Stop Motions posting earier, on this Discord.
The designer sets down how the software should work, the programmer then writes the code and tests it. If you do something that neither foresaw, then your on your own.
If a problem, in your workflow occurs, then you need to develop a work arround, to solve the problem. This is an immediate fix, that allows you to continue using the program, in this case Pencil2D.
Rather than just demanding a fix, you have a duty to determine, if the problem is caused by your computer setup, or a failure of your computer or any other cause other than a Pencil2D software fault. A simple way to determine this is to attempt the task using a different computer and then see if the fault persists.
If it does, on different computers, then inform the developers of the problem and send them your test results, so that they can check them.
Don’t expect them to stop everything their doing, to fix the problem immediately!
FYI.
Given the amount of backslash we’ve heard regarding this feature both here and on Discord, I’ll be removing it again for our next bug fix release.
As for when the next release will come, that hasn’t been decided yet.
