When you try to draw to a hidden layer it causes a crash. This might be related to the last bug I reported on importing images to a hidden layer causing a crash although that has been fixed.
I tested this with the latest nightly build as of this post. Here is some more info on my machine if it helps.
- OS - Ubuntu 22.04
- CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
