I spent days working on an animation. But when i tried importing a sound, the app crashed and when I opened Pencil2D again all my progress was gone. I checked all my files and everything. What can I do to recover my progress? I use Windows 11.
If you never saved your project, I’m afraid there is nothing you can do. You currently need to save your project at least once before the autosave and project recovery will start working.
If you did save your project, then you can look at the recent files under File > Open Recent in the top menu. If you locate your project file and an error message comes up when you try to open it, then your project file is likely corrupted and you can consult the Pencil2D Project File Corruption Prevention / Partial Recovery Guide for possible ways to recover your project.
Also please make sure you are using the latest version of Pencil2D. If you go to Help > About in the top menu (or Pencil2D > About on macOS), it should say version 0.7.0.x. I’m not aware of any crashes related to sound importing in this version. If you were using v0.7.0 at the time of the crash, any information you can provide on the cause of the crash, and sharing the file you were trying to import that caused the crash would be appreciated to help us diagnose and fix that issue so that it does not occur in the next release.
