Drawings Erased/Not Displaying

I was working on a project when literally everything was wiped blank. All the layers and frames are still there but they seem to be erased. It’s kind of weird because in the layer timeline the sound file looks fine but it also doesn’t work. The work did not crash and I did not save so I tried to open up my last saved version of the file again only to be met with a blank screen. I can draw on it and everything so it seems everything was erased? I opened up other projects too and they all had the same problem. I’m hoping that this is an issue where Pencil2d is erasing everything upon opening it up rather than it somehow corrupted all my files. I couldn’t find anything online so does anybody know what is happening?

Was the project wiped blank while you were working on it, or after opening it?

In general when users encounter issues like this with project frames wiping, we recommend going through this recovery guide, particularly the “Save File Verification” section to see if the images are still in your project files. It’s very strange that every project would be wiped, particularly if there are any projects you’ve opened and had working that have not been modified since.

First, make sure you are using the latest version of Pencil2D. In the top menu under Help > About, it should say version 0.7.0. If not, please upgrade as older versions were more prone to corrupting projects, especially wiping frames.

Second, verify that you have some free storage space on your computer. If you are really low on space on the drive that contains your temporary directory (on Windows: %TEMP%, usually the C: drive), all sorts of strange things can occur. Pencil2D needs at least the same amount of free space as the size of your project.

If you’ve got plenty of free space, then if you don’t mind please share here or send me privately one or more of your projects and I can try to open it myself to see if it as an issue with your computer or the project files.
