I recently downloaded Pencil2D, and I love it my only issue is the lack of a dark mode. It would be nice if you added themes to the applications like a dark mode or maybe a primary and secondary color picker. This is my only major gripe with the application currently. If you do plan to add this do you have a rough timeline if not that’s fine, I just wanted to make the suggestion. Obviously the most preferable implementation of this would be through a community them tab or something where we could make our own and share it but of course a simpler (and maybe safer) option of a primary and secondary color picker would be greatly appreciated and improve my experience alot.
Yes there is plans for a dark mode, in fact Pencil2D does already have a dark mode, but it is only available on platforms that support it and where the system theme is set to a dark theme. This does not include Windows at the moment.
There will likely never be more than just a limited set of preset themes. I can’t give you a timeline because all development is done on a volunteer basis so it just comes down to when someone takes the time to implement it. However I will say that I could see a basic light/dark mode switch coming sometime this year to the nightly builds. However a proper dark mode with redesigned icons and possibly other things that would need to be considered is still a ways off.
