Having 63 sound clips available in Pencil2D might sound enough. But if we could have up to 255 instead would allow for more smaller sound clips.
This makes a difference when playing a Pencil2D project, using the internal player. Each time a sound clips is started, there’s a slight delay in the sound effect. With smaller clips, the delay is also smaller!
It also makes the editing of the animation more flexibility and makes the animator more creative as a result.
The limit is there for technical reasons. Any project with more than 63 sound clips will fail to export to any video format with the approach we currently use to combine all the audio tracks in the project. When the exporter is changed to remove this limitation, the limit will be raised as much as possible or removed if it is no longer necessary.
