image import fail (0.5.3)

Not sure if this is a bug, or if i’m stupid. And if it is a bug, it might not be in Pencil itself, considering how it’s being used…

I select a bitmap layer, click File > Import > Image (or Image Sequence), and get a popup saying “Please select a bitmap or vector layer to import images.” Also tried creating a new keyframe first and get the same message. This happens consistently.

Running 0.5.3 beta (32-bit binary built by JassPenguin here) on 64-bit Debian Linux. Version 0.5 (Morevna) works as expected.

I also get this output, but i’m not sure it’s related: WARNING: bool Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend() phonon backend plugin could not be loaded

finally succeeded in compiling Pencil for Debian 64-bit, and having the same problem importing images.

The Phonon warning didn’t appear, but i did receive an error message: main services discovery error: no suitable services discovery module

Issued.

Thanks for reporting this problem.

ah. I should have looked more closely =o)

Thank you, and good luck.
